President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji on his emergence as the APC governorship candidate in Osun State. The congratulatory message followed the party’s primary election held on Saturday.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress for its unity and maturity. Notably, the primary election was conducted through affirmation, reflecting internal consensus.
President Tinubu also commended other aspirants who stepped down in favour of Oyebamiji. According to him, their decision showed loyalty to the party and commitment to the APC’s shared ideals and goals.
Tinubu Urges Inclusiveness After APC Primary
Furthermore, the President urged Oyebamiji to be magnanimous in victory. He advised the candidate to reach out to party leaders and former aspirants to strengthen cohesion.
Tinubu stressed that inclusivity remains vital as the party prepares for the next phase of the political process. Therefore, he called on party members to avoid division and focus on collective success.
“The journey to reclaim Osun State for the progressive fold in the 2026 governorship election has begun,” the President said. He added that unity and focus would make victory achievable.
APC Primary Conduct Wins Presidential Praise
Meanwhile, President Tinubu acknowledged the orderly conduct of the APC primary election. The exercise was chaired by Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and held in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
During the primary, party delegates unanimously affirmed Oyebamiji’s candidature. As a result, the process ended without rancour or disputes.
Tinubu Expresses Confidence Ahead of 2026 Election
In addition, the President expressed confidence that the unity displayed during the primary would boost the APC’s chances in the 2026 governorship election. He urged all stakeholders to sustain the momentum.
Ultimately, Tinubu called on party leaders, members, and supporters in Osun State to work together. He said collective effort remains key to electoral success.
With Oyebamiji now confirmed as the APC governorship candidate, the party has shifted attention toward mobilising support ahead of the 2026 polls.
