The Federal Government has dismissed 38 senior officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) over misconduct.
This decision, officials said, represents one of the most far-reaching disciplinary actions in the Corps’ recent history.
Board Approves Disciplinary Action
According to official sources, the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board approved the dismissals.
As part of broader reforms, the board said the action aims to strengthen discipline, accountability, and integrity within the NSCDC.
Notably, some of the affected officers held the rank of Assistant Commandant General, underscoring the seriousness of the sanctions.
More Officers Sanctioned in 2025
Meanwhile, NSCDC spokesperson Babawale Afolabi revealed that the dismissals formed only part of wider disciplinary measures.
In total, he said 76 officers and personnel faced sanctions in 2025.
These penalties included dismissals, demotions, and formal warnings for junior staff.
According to him, the measures are designed to deter misconduct and reinforce professionalism across the service.
NSCDC Warns Against Indiscipline
Furthermore, the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, restated the Corps’ zero-tolerance stance on misconduct.
He stressed that any action capable of damaging the reputation of the service would attract firm consequences.
Importantly, he noted that discipline remains central to the Corps’ mandate of protecting lives and property nationwide.
FG Reaffirms Commitment to Accountability
In addition, the Federal Government said the dismissals reflect its determination to strengthen internal governance within security agencies.
As a result, officials believe public confidence in the NSCDC will improve.
Ultimately, the government maintained that enforcing discipline will enhance professionalism and improve service delivery across the country.
