Gunmen storm PMF camp in Kaiama, leaving officers dead and residents in panic.
Suspected bandits have attacked a Police Mobile Force (PMF) camp in Tenebo community, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing at least three police officers and injuring two others. The assault happened in the early hours of Saturday, with heavy gunfire reportedly sending residents fleeing for safety.
Sources say the attackers overran the camp in a surprise raid, overpowering officers on duty before carrying out the killings. The scale and speed of the attack left the community shaken, as security operatives struggled to respond.
The incident adds to growing security concerns in parts of Nigeria, where bandit attacks have continued to target rural communities and security formations. Authorities are yet to release full details of the operation or confirm the identities of the victims.
Police spokesperson Ejide Tohun confirmed the attack and said more information will be provided.
The latest violence underscores ongoing challenges in tackling armed groups and restoring security in affected regions.
