Actress Pinkett Smith admitted to cheating on Will Smith to protect his ego

Jada Pinkett Smith recently opened up about her decision to publicly address her “entanglement” with singer August Alsina, revealing it was a calculated move to protect Will Smith’s ego and shield their family from extended public scrutiny.

While promoting her memoir, “I Am, You Are, We Are Worthy!”, Pinkett Smith shared that she chose to take on the brunt of public judgment to help her husband process the situation.

“If I have to look like the adulterous wife to make sure you’re okay, I’ll do it,” she said, reflecting on her choice to prioritize Will’s well-being over her own reputation.

The actress admitted she had long struggled to balance self-preservation with her commitment to her husband.

“I had to learn how to love myself without leaving Will behind. But I also had to figure out how to love Will without abandoning myself,” she explained.

Feeling responsible for the challenges their family faced, Pinkett Smith decided to take on the role of the “villain” to bring the public conversation to an end.

“Fine, I’m the bad guy. I’m the worst. Great. Let’s be done with it. I just wanted it over so we could move on,” she said.

This new perspective sheds light on the couple’s infamous 2020 Red Table Talk episode, which became a cultural flashpoint. It also adds context to the 2022 Oscars incident, where Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock on stage.

Pinkett Smith described the experience as a major learning moment about the complexities of their relationship.

Despite the global controversy and public scrutiny of their marriage, she emphasized that these candid conversations were part of their personal growth journey. For her, it was about finding a way for the couple to “walk the road of life together” as true partners.
