Davido Warns He’ll Call Trump Over Osun Governorship Election

Afrobeats superstar Davido has stirred fresh reactions after saying he will involve United States President Donald Trump if anything goes wrong during the upcoming Osun State governorship election. The singer made the statement during a livestream with comedian and content creator Carter Efe. His comments have since sparked conversations across social media.

During the livestream, Davido explained why he has not fully entered politics. According to him, he has the popularity to win any election. However, he believes Nigeria’s electoral system still lacks transparency. He said,

“Until there’s transparency, then I can go ahead with politics because nobody can beat me in any election. If there’s a free and fair election, let everybody come out to vote, I will win. But because of the system, there’s no transparency; they write the results.”

The award-winning singer also revealed that he is closely watching preparations for the Osun governorship election. He said he wants to see how the voting process will play out before making further comments.

“I want to see what they are going to do in Osun. We are waiting,” he said.

His remarks reflect his concern about the credibility of the election in his home state.

Davido added that he would not stay silent if he believes the election is compromised. Instead, he said he would take his complaints beyond Nigeria.

“I’ll tag Trump, I’ll call Trump, everybody. If they still don’t see anything, I’ll go in front of the White House and say, ‘Help us.’ They think it’s a joke. Trump will just say, ‘I think there’s a Nigerian artiste sending me a message.’ Don’t worry, my message will be delivered.”

He ended with a passionate appeal:

“Leave Osun alone oo. Leave it.”
