Gunmen kidnap Ex-power minister Adebayo Adelabu’s sister and sons

Security agencies have launched a rescue operation after gunmen abducted the sister of former Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu and her children in Ibadan.

Suspected gunmen have abducted Mrs. Olaide John-Paul, the sister of former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, along with her 12-year-old twin sons in Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to the family, the victims were kidnapped at about 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3. This happened while Mrs John-Paul was taking her children to school. The incident was confirmed in a statement issued by Adelabu’s media aide, Femi Awogboro.

Mrs John-Paul reportedly retired from First Bank Pension Custodian in 2025 and recently relocated to Ibadan with her children. While making plans to join her husband in the United States.

The family said security operatives have already commenced investigations and rescue efforts. They also appealed to the public to avoid spreading unverified information. Stating that it could jeopardise the operation and urged anyone with useful intelligence to contact security agencies.

The family says it remains hopeful that the victims will be rescued safely as security agencies intensify efforts.
