Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Wednesday received his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission, formally confirming his victory in the August 15 governorship election.
Adeleke contested the election on the platform of the Accord Party. He appeared excited during the presentation ceremony and celebrated by singing and dancing. The certificate presentation followed INEC’s declaration of Adeleke as the winner of the election on Sunday.
Adeleke polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who scored 444,815 votes. The governor won 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji secured the remaining 11.

The presentation marks another step in the formal confirmation of Adeleke’s mandate for a second term as governor of Osun State. After his victory, Adeleke thanked residents for their support and promised to build on the achievements of his first term. He also acknowledged areas where his administration had fallen short. The governor pledged to address them while pursuing policies aimed at improving the lives of residents.
Meanwhile, the election has continued to generate reactions from the Accord Party and the APC. The APC candidate and his party also face questions over whether they will challenge the election result in court. With the certificate now presented, Adeleke has secured another four-year term as governor of Osun State.
