Regha pointed out that Burna Boy had more than 10 lines in the official World Cup anthem alongside Shakira. However, he said the Grammy winner sang in Spanish, Italian, Japanese, and French without using any Nigerian language or even Pidgin English. Regha described it as a missed opportunity to promote Afrobeats and Nigerian culture. He also praised Shakira for staying true to her roots by performing in her native Spanish.
In an earlier post, Regha argued that the singer should have worn a proper African-inspired outfit instead of his chosen look. According to him, such a moment deserved a stronger cultural statement. He famously wrote, “Fela would’ve represented.” That comment quickly gained attention and divided opinions online.
