Popular Anambra comedian and media personality Isaac Nwosu, widely known as Aiza Nwosu, has been shot dead in what appears to have been a targeted attack in Awka. The attack took place on Sunday night.
According to a witness account, three attackers in a tinted vehicle trailed Nwosu from his residence before blocking his car along S.M. Okeke Street in the Amaikwo area of Awka and opening fire. Nwosu was left dead inside his vehicle. The same group then reportedly drove to a second location on Capital City Road, Amaenyi, where they shot another man by the roadside and allegedly took his belongings. The identity of the second victim had not been established at the time of this report.
Residents fled both areas as gunshots rang out across the city. Security operatives moved in shortly after the incidents. Videos circulated online in the aftermath, showing both victims at separate locations as crowds gathered around the scenes.
The motive for the killings remains unclear. Some residents have linked the attacks to suspected cult-related violence. Although police have yet to confirm or establish any motive. However, investigations are ongoing.
Aiza Nwosu was a known face in Anambra’s entertainment and media landscape. His death has shocked the state’s creative community.
