Akwa Ibom Police have arrested one suspect and launched a manhunt for others involved in an attempted mob attack on two women.
Nigeria Police Force said one person has been arrested following the attempted lynching of two women in Akwa Ibom State.
Police authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing and security operatives are searching for other suspects linked to the attack. The command warned residents against taking the law into their own hands, stressing that every suspect remains innocent until proven guilty by a competent court.
The police also urged members of the public to report suspected criminal activity to security agencies instead of engaging in mob action. Authorities commended the intervention of the state health commissioner, whose quick response reportedly helped save the victims’ lives.
Mob attacks and jungle justice cases have remained a growing concern in parts of Nigeria, with security agencies repeatedly calling for citizens to allow due legal process.
The Akwa Ibom Police Command said it remains committed to protecting lives, maintaining law and order, and bringing all those involved in the attack to justice.
