Nigerian comedian and actor Ayodeji Makun, popularly known as AY, has recalled Asake’s 2019 Instagram message. The singer was still an upcoming artiste at the time. AY shared the story after watching Asake perform at a sold-out concert in Houston, Texas. The show was part of Asake’s “In God We Trust” tour.
According to AY, the old message came back to his mind while watching the singer’s impressive performance. He admitted that he did not see the DM when Asake sent it.
“I remember when this boy sent me a message in my DM on Instagram. I didn’t even get to see this message on time,” he said.
The comedian then displayed the message online.In the 2019 DM, Asake introduced himself as Ololade and asked AY to support his music.
“Good Evening sir. I’m OLOLADE. How are you doing sir? I’m here for help, KING AY,” he wrote.
Asake also asked him to listen to his song, “African Something,” and support his career. He ended the message with,
“Help a son sir. May God bless you and your family. I love you KING AY.”
However, AY made it clear that he was not sharing the message for recognition. He credited God, Asake’s talent and his hard work for the singer’s success. The comedian also urged people to support upcoming talents.
“The person asking to be seen today may become the person the whole world will celebrate tomorrow,” he said.
He added that Nigeria, Africa and the world are celebrating the singer’s achievements.
