A British couple detained in Iran say they fear years behind bars as they plead for help.
A British couple held in Iran say they are coming to terms with the possibility of a long prison sentence after more than a year in detention.
Lindsay Foreman and Craig Foreman were arrested in January 2025 while travelling through Iran on a global motorcycle trip. The pair were later sentenced to 10 years in prison on espionage charges, which they strongly deny.
Speaking from Evin Prison in Tehran, Lindsay said she is struggling with the reality of their situation, despite trying to stay mentally strong through exercise and reading. Craig described the experience as “wasting our lives,” urging the UK government to take action to secure their release.
The couple are held in separate cells and communicate with family through monitored phone calls. They say prison conditions are difficult, with limited healthcare and ongoing safety concerns inside the facility.
Their detention comes amid strained relations between Iran and Western nations, with several foreign nationals previously held in similar circumstances.
The Foremans’ case adds to growing concerns over the treatment of foreign detainees in Iran.
