The debate over Peter and Paul Okoye’s contributions to PSquare has started again. This time, Lola Okoye’s former colleague, CDO, shared his opinion. He believes Peter Okoye’s talent has often been underrated. According to him, Peter brought more than dancing to the famous music duo.
CDO said Paul’s biggest strength is his singing ability. However, he praised Peter’s showmanship, ideas, stage presence and branding skills.
“Peter has more talent than Paul. The only thing is that Paul’s talent is the singing talent,” he said.
CDO also credited Peter with shaping the PSquare brand.
“The brand P-Square is Peter,” he added.
Meanwhile, CDO believes PSquare’s performances helped make the duo a household name. He argued that their energetic dances and visual style were key to their success.
“That whole jacket, decked up dancing, is that not what made P-Square?” he asked.
He also compared their vocals with Styl-Plus. According to him, PSquare became bigger through entertainment, not just singing. CDO also recalled Peter’s role during their early days in Lagos. He claimed Peter organised choreography sessions and rehearsed for hours.
“Peter had the idea, the rehearsals, the organization,” he said.
He further claimed Peter rehearsed choreography for three to six hours daily. Lola’s former colleague also compared their solo careers after the split.
“When they broke up was Peter not more successful?” he asked.
He claimed Peter made more money individually than Paul. His comments have now added fresh fuel to the long-running PSquare debate.
