Christy Knowings, best known for Nickelodeon’s All That, has died at 46. The former child star reportedly suffered an asthma attack.
According to TMZ, Knowings was hospitalised on Friday, August 7. She was later placed on life support. The actress died on Tuesday, August 11. Her manager, Al Hill, confirmed her death to Variety.
“Christy was a multi-talented lady,” Hill said.
“Whether it was singing, acting, dancing, she was always creating.”
He also described her as professional and dedicated to her work.
Knowings joined All That in 1997 and appeared in more than 30 episodes. She left the show in 1999 after making her mark among young Nickelodeon stars. Her career later included a role in Mother and Child in 2009. The film starred Annette Bening, Naomi Watts and Samuel L. Jackson. Knowings also earned a writing credit on the movie. She later appeared on Sesame Street three times between 2009 and 2011.
Following the news, former All That co-star Keenan Thompson shared an emotional tribute.
“Never could have imagined this day!! Sending so much love to her family!!” he wrote.
Thompson called Knowings “one of the funniest people out here.” Her death comes months after another All That alum, Kianna Underwood, died at 33. Underwood was reportedly killed in a hit-and-run in Brooklyn, New York.
The two actresses never appeared on the show together. Knowings left in 1999, while Underwood joined during the final season in 2005.
