Crystal Palace wins Conference League title

Crystal Palace will play Europa League football next season after ending a turbulent campaign with a major European trophy win.

Crystal Palace secured a place in next season’s UEFA Europa League after winning a European title despite enduring a difficult season on and off the pitch.

Palace had earlier been forced out of the Europa League and into Europe’s third-tier competition because of ownership-related issues. Their struggles continued with a shock FA Cup defeat to non-league side Macclesfield and a disappointing 15th-place finish in the Premier League.

However, the club’s European success has transformed the mood around Selhurst Park and guaranteed another season of continental football. The victory also makes Palace the second English club to win a European trophy this season after Aston Villa.

Attention now turns to Arsenal, who will face Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League Final on Saturday.
