Veteran Nigerian singer Daddy Showkey has criticised P-Square brothers, Peter and Paul Okoye, over their long-running feud. He said their dispute destroyed one of Africa’s biggest music brands.
Speaking with Goldmyne TV on Saturday, Daddy Showkey said P-Square belonged to more than just the two brothers. According to him, the group had built a massive fan base across Africa.
“P-Square destroyed the biggest brand that Africa produced. P-Square isn’t for them alone,” he said.
The veteran singer also reminded entertainers about the people behind their success. He said fans played a major role in making artists successful.
“As an entertainer, I can decide to lock myself in my room and celebrate my 50 years on stage,” he said.
“I am celebrating because it is the people that made me Daddy Showkey.” He added,
“If the people have made you, you are not considering them but considering how much you guys are making.”
Meanwhile, Daddy Showkey urged Peter and Paul to settle their differences. He warned that allowing the feud to continue could affect their children and future generations.
“No matter what, you guys are brothers,” he said.
“No matter what, you should look for a place to resolve things because you have children.” He further warned,
“Tomorrow you will carry this beef to your children.”
As P-Square’s past success remains fresh in the minds of fans, Daddy Showkey’s message is simple, some legacies are bigger than personal differences.
Whether Peter and Paul can put their issues aside and rebuild their bond remains to be seen.
