Marvel Studios has officially found its next Black Panther. British actor David Jonsson will play the adult Prince T’Challa II in Black Panther 3. The big announcement came during San Diego Comic-Con 2026. Director Ryan Coogler introduced Jonsson on stage alongside Letitia Wright and Winston Duke. The emotional reveal quickly became one of the biggest moments of the event. The movie is set to hit cinemas on December 15, 2028. Jonsson will continue the Wakandan legacy as T’Challa’s son, also known as Toussaint.
Fans first met Prince T’Challa II at the end of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in 2022. Back then, he appeared as a little boy. This new movie follows his journey into adulthood as he embraces his royal heritage. Even more exciting, the story promises a fresh chapter for Wakanda while honoring the unforgettable legacy of the late Chadwick Boseman. That makes Jonsson’s role one of Marvel’s biggest responsibilities.
The 32-year-old actor was born in London and has Nigerian, Sierra Leonean, Caribbean, and Swedish roots. He trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art before making his mark in Hollywood. Many fans know him from Industry and Rye Lane. He also impressed audiences in Alien: Romulus, The Long Walk, and Wasteman. His performance in Wasteman earned him the BAFTA Rising Star award. Now, he is stepping into one of the most iconic superhero roles in cinema.
