The drama between Davido and Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has taken a fresh turn. The governor’s aide, Kassy Chukwu, has reportedly barred the singer from performing in Edo State. Chukwu is the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Digital Media.
In a viral video, Chukwu criticised Davido over his recent clash with Okpebholo. He claimed the singer would not be allowed to perform in the state. According to him, Davido has been banned for the remaining “six years” of Okpebholo’s expected tenure. He also issued a disturbing warning to the singer. Chukwu said,
“If we catch you, we will tell boys to remove your teeth with slaps.”
The controversy started after Okpebholo visited Osun State during the election campaign. While supporting the APC candidate, he criticised Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is Davido’s uncle.
Okpebholo asked voters if they were tired of a governor who was “unserious and only focuses on dancing.” Davido took offence at the comment and fired back online. He shared a WAEC result allegedly linked to Okpebholo and used it to mock him. However, Chukwu claimed the result was AI-generated.
Meanwhile, Davido has refused to apologise for his comments. In a recent interview, the singer said he felt sorry for Okpebholo’s children because of their father’s public conduct.
The latest threat has now added another layer to their ongoing feud. It also raises questions about whether Davido will actually be stopped from performing in Edo State.
