Afrobeats superstar Davido is celebrating after his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, won the Osun State governorship election. INEC’s scheduled poll held on August 15, 2026.The singer shared his excitement online after Adeleke was declared the winner. In a video, Davido fell to the ground while celebrating the victory. He also shared a short message that summed up his joy:
“WE DID IT UNC!!!”
Adeleke secured 511,067 votes to retain his seat as Osun governor. His closest rival, APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, scored 444,815 votes. ADC candidate Najeem Salaam came third with 17,180 votes. The result gave Adeleke a clear lead over his major challenger.
For Davido, the victory was more than another political headline. Adeleke is his uncle and has remained a major figure in the singer’s family. Therefore, the singer’s emotional reaction quickly caught attention online. Fans also joined the celebration as clips from the moment made the rounds.
The victory also gives Adeleke another term to lead Osun State. He contested the election under the Accord Party after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party. INEC had earlier listed Adeleke as the incumbent governor and Accord candidate.
