Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has made a bold claim about his hit songs. The singer says no Nigerian artiste has more hits than him. He also believes he can prove it in a hit battle. During a recent livestream with streamer Davrel, Davido challenged his colleagues to face him.
“I will put $1 million cash on the table. Nobody has more hits than me,” he said.
His statement has already sparked fresh conversations among Nigerian music fans.Davido is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s biggest hitmakers. Over the years, he has released several songs that became major hits. His impressive catalogue includes records such as Fall, If, FIA, and Unavailable. However, his claim puts him against several other Nigerian music giants. Wizkid, Burna Boy, Olamide, Tekno, and Runtown also have strong hit-filled catalogues.
For now, no Nigerian artiste has publicly accepted Davido’s $1 million challenge. Still, the idea of a hit battle has fans debating possible matchups. A Davido versus Wizkid or Burna Boy contest would certainly attract huge attention. It could also settle some long-running fan arguments about who has the bigger catalogue.
Interestingly, Davido is not the first Nigerian star to propose such a contest. Burna Boy made a similar challenge during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. Former Mavin Records star Reekado Banks accepted the challenge at the time. However, Burna Boy rejected him as a “worthy challenger.”
With Davido now putting $1 million on the table, fans will be watching to see who dares to respond.
