Gospel Singer Recounts Frightening Pregnancy Experience
Nigerian gospel singer Judikay has opened up about a difficult experience she faced during the birth of her daughter.
The singer shared the testimony during a church service. A video of the emotional moment has since circulated online.
According to Judikay, she travelled to Canada when she was 34 weeks pregnant. While there, she went for a routine medical scan.
However, the appointment quickly became worrying.
Doctors Raised Concerns During Scan
Judikay said the medical team appeared concerned during the examination.
She explained that the personnel repeatedly asked her to change positions while carrying out the scan.
As a result, she sensed that something was wrong.
According to her, doctors later informed her that her unborn baby was not breathing.
Recalling the moment, she said:
“At 34 weeks, they told me my baby was not breathing. I said, ‘How can the breath of God not breathe?’ We had already named her Ume Chukwu before we travelled.”
Family Chooses Faith Over Fear
Furthermore, Judikay revealed that the concerns did not end there.
She claimed medical personnel also told her that her baby did not have a nose. In addition, they reportedly recommended tests for Down syndrome.
Despite the reports, the singer said she refused to panic.
Instead, she contacted her husband and discussed the situation with him.
According to Judikay, her husband encouraged her to trust God rather than focus on the medical predictions.
“My husband said, ‘You will not go for any test. Tear that slip,’” she recalled.
Consequently, she said she tore the referral slip and chose a different approach.
Couple Spent Hours Giving Thanks
Rather than proceed with additional tests, the couple devoted themselves to prayer and thanksgiving.
They spent hours each day worshipping and speaking positively about their unborn child.
Moreover, they continued to declare that their baby would be healthy and complete.
“We kept declaring that we had received an excellent and perfect child,” she said.
Labour Brings Another Challenge
Meanwhile, the delivery itself came with fresh complications.
Judikay explained that she went into labour and became fully dilated.
However, she struggled to push the baby out despite experiencing contractions.
The situation reportedly became more difficult as time passed.
Eventually, she delivered the baby successfully.
Discovery After Birth
After the delivery, Judikay said doctors discovered that the umbilical cord had wrapped around her baby’s neck twice.
According to her, the cord had severely restricted the baby during labour.
She also revealed that the baby had passed stool while still in the womb, a situation that can signal distress.
Nevertheless, both mother and child came through safely.
Singer Describes Outcome as a Miracle
Reflecting on the experience, Judikay described her daughter’s birth as a miracle.
She expressed gratitude to God for protecting both her and the baby throughout the ordeal.
Furthermore, she said the experience strengthened her faith and reminded her of God’s faithfulness during difficult moments.
