Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has pledged to recommend Julius Adamu for a major federal appointment.
Adamu, a former (PDP) chairmanship candidate for Bwari Area Council, will be nominated as Chairman of the FCT Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).
Wike made the announcement during a town hall interactive meeting in Bwari, as shared in a video by his media aide Lere Olayinka.
The minister praised Adamu for stepping down during previous local elections to foster political unity ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.
Consequently, the gesture highlights strategic political realignments as the ruling party consolidates support across the FCT.
“It’s Good to Be Humble”: Wike Recounts Bwari Political Agreement
During his address, Wike explained how Adamu willingly relinquished his political ambitions for the collective interest of the ruling party.
- Formidable Rival: Wike admitted he did not know Adamu initially but recognized him as a formidable candidate during the council race.
- Seamless Sacrifice: Upon request, Adamu agreed immediately to step aside and support APC candidate Joshua Ishaku to ensure political harmony.
- Presidential Nomination: Fulfilling his promise, Wike declared he would forward Adamu’s name directly to President Tinubu for the federal board position.
Furthermore, the announcement moved supporters and stakeholders at the venue, with several individuals expressing gratitude to the minister.
Political Reactions and 2027 Mobilization Strategies
Shifting to broader electoral strategies, Wike urged residents to disregard political detractors and focus on developmental achievements.
The minister emphasized that the administration remains fully committed to bringing meaningful progress to the people of Bwari.
“We are going to work with the President because we have seen what he’s doing,” Wike stated during the meeting.
Meanwhile, political analysts note that strategic appointments and reward systems remain vital tools for strengthening party loyalty ahead of general polls.
Finally, ruling party stakeholders expressed confidence that grassroots unity will secure an overwhelming victory in the FCT for 2027.
