Nate Faces a Violent End in Season 3
Euphoria delivered one of its darkest moments on Sunday as Nate met a brutal end in the latest episode.
The controversial character died after loan sharks buried him alive over a $1 million debt.
While trapped inside a coffin, a rattlesnake entered through a vent pipe and bit him.
He died alone before his wife, Cassie, and his former girlfriend, Maddy, could rescue him.
The violent death marked the end of one of the show’s most feared characters.
Sam Levinson Explains the Ending
Series creator Sam Levinson said he wanted Nate’s death to reflect justice and consequences.
He explained that he aimed to give viewers a form of karma.
At the same time, he wanted the scene to feel disturbing and emotionally intense.
Levinson said the goal was to create a moment so horrifying that audiences might question whether they wanted that level of punishment.
Fear and Consequences Shape the Scene
Nate’s final scene combined fear, isolation, and suspense.
Inside the coffin, he struggled to escape while the rattlesnake moved closer.
The sequence highlighted several fears, including confinement and helplessness.
It also reinforced the harsh consequences the character had tried to avoid throughout the season.
Nate’s Downfall Builds Through Season 3
Season three showed Nate as a failed real estate developer facing growing trouble.
After he failed to repay a debt, loan sharks targeted him.
They interrupted his wedding, cut off his toe, and later severed one of his fingers.
Eventually, they kidnapped him and demanded money from his wife, Cassie.
She tried to gather the funds after gaining financial success through OnlyFans.
Rescue Comes Too Late
Cassie later received help from Maddy.
Maddy contacted crime boss Alamo to assist with the money exchange.
The two women reached the burial site and dug Nate out.
However, they found him already dead from snake venom.
His body had swollen, and the rescue came too late.
Creator Changed the Original Plan
Levinson revealed that he first planned for Nate to suffocate inside the coffin.
Later, he changed the idea after imagining a rattlesnake entering the confined space.
He said the inspiration came during a drive through Los Angeles.
That sudden idea shaped one of the episode’s most disturbing scenes.
Actor Jacob Elordi Reacts to Nate’s Fate
Jacob Elordi described Nate’s ending as a “cool” exit for the character.
He joked that filming inside the coffin felt surprisingly peaceful.
The actor also confirmed that he filmed the scene with a real snake.
Production used a boa constrictor fitted with a fake rattlesnake tail.
More Danger Awaits in the Finale
The episode also left other major characters in crisis.
Rue is close to being captured by Laurie’s crew.
Meanwhile, Maddy and Cassie now owe a debt to Alamo.
These developments raise tension ahead of the season finale.
Euphoria season three will conclude on Sunday, May 31, on HBO.
