The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has uncovered a residential building storing empty bottles for fake alcohol in Lagos.

Officers from the Investigation and Enforcement Directorate discovered over 100 sacks of empty bottles at 322B Meiran Road, Agbado Oke-Odo.

Enforcement officers immediately destroyed the seized glass containers to prevent criminal syndicates from reusing them. Kunle Ojo, an Assistant Director in the directorate, confirmed the operation during a video briefing on Friday.

He noted that the enforcement team acted on credible intelligence regarding suspicious activities at the secluded property.

Furthermore, Ojo disclosed that officers found bottles stacked under large tarpaulins across the residential compound.

  • Seized Brands: The inventory included 750cl bottles labeled as Action Bitters and Royal Circle Premium Whiskey.
  • Distribution Ring: Suspects allegedly stockpiled the empty containers to supply illegal bottling operations across the state.
  • Residential Misuse: The agency condemned using residential neighborhoods for illegal industrial storage and counterfeiting.

Consequently, NAFDAC reiterated its commitment to dismantling illicit bottling networks to protect consumer health nationwide.

Agency Urges Public Vigilance and Community Reporting

Shifting to public safety measures, NAFDAC called on residents to report suspicious manufacturing activities in their communities.

Ojo emphasized that community intelligence remains critical for stopping counterfeiters before dangerous products reach retail markets.

“We urge citizens to notify the nearest NAFDAC office whenever they observe illegal operations,” Ojo stated.

Meanwhile, enforcement officers continue to monitor logistics routes and glass supply channels across the state.

Finally, the agency warned property owners against leasing residential premises to operators involved in illegal bottling schemes.
