Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued six female students of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), and a commercial driver after they were abducted in Katsina State.
The victims were rescued on the evening of September 21 along the Daye–Malumfashi road in Danmusa Local Government Area. According to a statement from the military, armed assailants attacked a commercial vehicle travelling from Kaduna to Katsina and abducted its occupants.
Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, responded to a distress call reporting the attack and moved swiftly. Their intervention forced the kidnappers to abandon the captives and flee into the surrounding area.
The rescued group comprised six female FUDMA students and the male driver of the commercial vehicle. All seven victims were found unhurt. The victims were subsequently subjected to preliminary security profiling and medical evaluation after their rescue.

However, they were handed over to designated officials to facilitate their reunion with their families and the relevant university authorities.
The military said the rescue formed part of ongoing operations by Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt kidnapping and other criminal activities across the North-West.
