Getafe Make Formal Offer to Sign Free Agent Jadon Sancho

Spanish club Getafe have made a formal offer to sign former Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho, who is currently without a club after his contract expired in the summer.

The 26-year-old England international has been considering several options as he searches for his next team. However, reaching an agreement with Getafe is understood to be complicated. Getafe, who are 14th in La Liga and competing in the Europa Conference League this season, are keen to secure Sancho’s services.

Sancho is reportedly interested in moving abroad rather than remaining in England, although he remains open to different opportunities. The winger joined Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 for a reported ÂŁ73m fee but struggled to establish himself consistently at Old Trafford. He spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, making 39 appearances as Unai Emery’s side secured Champions League qualification and won the Europa League. Sancho came on as a late substitute in the final against Freiburg, marking his third European final appearance in three seasons.

Before his spell at Villa, Sancho had loan spells at Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea during his five years under contract with Manchester United. His move to Chelsea for the 2024-25 campaign included an obligation to buy. However, Chelsea paid a ÂŁ5m penalty to send him back to United after he made 41 appearances for the London club.

Sancho has continued training while searching for a new team, sharing videos of his sessions on Instagram. He also visited non-league side Flixton, prompting the club to clarify that he was not on trial with the North West Counties League team.

A move to Getafe would offer Sancho an opportunity to restart his career in Spain, although negotiations must still be resolved before any transfer can be completed.
