Adebayo Adelabu, former minister of power, has appealed to party members and residents of Oyo state to support his governorship ambition ahead of the 2027 election.
Adelabu made the appeal while addressing journalists during a homecoming visit to Oyo on Thursday, shortly after his resignation from office.
He explained that his decision to step down was solely to pursue the governorship ticket.
“The singular reason for my resignation is to come back and plead for the opportunity to represent our party as the governorship candidate,” he said.
He added that he is confident of securing the ticket and winning the election with the backing of party leaders and the people of the state.
Adelabu said his ambition is driven by a desire to serve and reposition Oyo.
“God sees my heart. He sees my plan… to serve the people of Oyo state and give my best,” he said.
He outlined plans to prioritise infrastructure development, security, and economic growth if elected.
The former minister said he has been preparing for the role for over a decade and is ready to “hit the ground running” if given the opportunity.
