The Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Gombe State, Abdulrahman Buba Zaune, has resigned from the party with immediate effect. Zaune announced his decision in a resignation letter dated August 5, 2026, and addressed to the Chairman of the ADC in Zaune Ward, Dukku Local Government Area.

In the letter, the former publicity secretary thanked the ADC for giving him the opportunity to serve in different capacities. He said he had served the party at the local government, state and national levels during his membership.
“I sincerely appreciate the political party for the opportunity to serve in different capacities at the local government, state and national levels. I therefore wish the party well.”
Defection speculation grows
Although Zaune did not reveal his next political destination, his resignation has fuelled speculation that he may defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The development came less than 24 hours after the APC governorship candidate in Gombe State, Jamilu Gwamna, visited Dukku Local Government Area, where Zaune hails from. The timing of his resignation has attracted political attention as parties continue preparations for the 2027 governorship election.
ADC records another exit
Zaune’s resignation comes only weeks after the ADC State Secretary, Ahmed Gana, also left the opposition party. Gana later joined the APC and declared support for Gwamna’s governorship ambition.
