Nigerian gospel and Afro-fusion singer Gaise Baba broke down in tears after receiving a surprise brand-new Mercedes-Benz.
The emotional moment happened on September 17, 2026. The luxury black sedan came with a customised “GAISE” Lagos number plate. Gaise Baba shared the moment with fans on Instagram. He also linked the gift to his popular Urgent2Hours prayer sessions. The singer could barely hide his shock when he saw the car.
In the video, a man walked into Gaise Baba’s home and handed him a car key. The singer was relaxing on the couch at the time. Moments later, he stepped outside and saw the Mercedes-Benz waiting in his driveway. He opened the driver’s door and checked out the interior. However, the customised number plate caught his attention again and again. At one point, he covered his face with both hands in disbelief. His wife, Funto Ibuoye, and a young child also joined the celebration.
Meanwhile, Gaise Baba credited the surprise gift to his faith and prayer ministry. Sharing the video, he wrote:
“OLUWADUNSIN 🙌🏾⚡️ the Lord said to tell you; the Urgent2Hours sessions you held, this is HIS Thank You Again… OLUWADUNSIN!!!”
The singer has built a strong identity around gospel music and Afrobeat sounds. He performs in Yoruba, English and Pidgin. His 2022 album, A Decade After, remains one of his notable projects. Beyond music, he also works in culture and youth development.
The heartwarming video soon attracted reactions from fans online. Many celebrated the singer’s emotional response and thanked God alongside him. However, this is not the first time Gaise Baba has made headlines over gospel music.
He previously questioned how Nigerian awards classify gospel and inspirational music. He also criticised The Headies over its 2024 ceremony. According to him, organisers did not publicly announce or present the Inspirational Music category winner on stage.
