Edo Governor Monday Okpebholo says he started casting out demons at 17 or 18 while discussing insecurity and cultism in the state.
Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has revealed that he started casting out demons at the age of 17 or 18. The governor made the statement during a Sunday service at The VOTAGE Church in Benin City.
Okpebholo spoke while reflecting on his early religious experiences. He also linked those experiences to his position on insecurity and cultism in Edo State.
“When I see young ones standing in the presence of God, I remember at the age of 17/18, I’ve also started casting out demons,” he said.
According to the governor, fighting insecurity and cultism is not a new responsibility for him.
“So fighting insecurity, most especially cultism, is not a new thing to me. It’s something that has been happening,” Okpebholo added.
His comments have since attracted attention online, with the video trending on social media.
Meanwhile, The VOTAGE Church confirmed the governor’s visit in an Instagram post. The church said it was honoured to host Okpebholo during the service. It also said the congregation prayed for the peace, progress and prosperity of Edo State.
Okpebholo later confirmed his attendance on X. He said he first worshipped at Living Faith Church on Sapele Road before visiting The VOTAGE Church. He added that prayers focused on peace, protection, wisdom and strength for Edo leaders.
