Anita Joseph’s explanation after accusing the Nollywood actress of using her photo without permission. The drama started after Anita shared an edited image that Caramel claimed was originally hers. According to the influencer, the photo had been altered to remove her face before it was posted online. The accusation quickly sparked reactions across social media.
After the backlash, Anita Joseph took to her Instagram Story to explain what happened. She blamed the mix-up on an artificial intelligence (AI) creator who handled the image. According to the actress, she believed the photo was only inspired by AI and did not know Caramel’s face had allegedly been replaced with hers. Anita also apologized for the incident. She wrote,
“Chai, my AI boy said it was inspired by AI, this guy wants to put me in trouble, chim. Sorry baby. I can’t even be involved in this kind of mess. I’m really sorry. But you look great. He included my face and hair, chai this boy oh.”
The actress also expressed frustration over the situation. She insisted she had no reason to use another person’s picture because she creates her own content. Anita added,
“Me wey be picture and clothes myself. This is exactly why I don’t like AI stuff. It’s just too much. I only wanted to help someone promote their work.”
Her explanation, however, did little to calm the controversy, as many social media users continued to debate the risks of AI-generated content.
Caramel Plug was not convinced by the apology. She replied with a message that quickly went viral.
“Lol, alright, make sure your imaginary AI guy does better next time. Also, I’m not your baby; I don’t know you at all. Take care.”
Her response has since fueled more conversations online, with many people sharing different opinions on AI mistakes, image ownership, and the importance of getting permission before using another person’s photo.
