The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says the third and final phase of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will begin on May 11.

In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by Mohammed Haruna, chairman of the commission’s information and voter education committee, INEC said the exercise will run until July 10, 2026.

The commission said the second phase of the registration exercise was suspended on April 17 to allow for the clean-up of the voter register after claims and objections.

INEC urged eligible Nigerians who have attained the age of 18, as well as those who missed earlier phases, to take advantage of the exercise.

“Eligible citizens who have attained the age of 18, as well as those who were unable to register during the earlier phases, should seize this opportunity to do so,” the statement reads.

The commission also asked registered voters seeking transfer of registration, replacement of lost or damaged permanent voter cards (PVCs), or correction of biodata to visit its online portal or INEC offices nationwide.

INEC said the register of voters will be displayed for claims and objections from July 23 to July 29, 2026.

According to the commission, the exercise is aimed at ensuring the accuracy and credibility of the voter register.

INEC added that necessary arrangements have been concluded for the smooth conduct of the exercise and appealed to citizens to participate actively.
