Israel intensifies Hezbollah strikes across Lebanon

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says the military has been ordered to increase attacks against Hezbollah.

Israel has launched a new wave of airstrikes across Lebanon after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced plans to intensify military operations against Hezbollah.

The Israeli military said it targeted Hezbollah positions in the Bekaa Valley and other areas of Lebanon on Monday. Hezbollah later claimed responsibility for 22 drone and rocket attacks targeting Israeli soldiers, tanks and military sites.

In a video statement, Netanyahu said Israel was “at war with Hezbollah” and vowed to increase the “intensity” of strikes. He also claimed Israeli forces had already killed more than 600 Hezbollah fighters.

The latest escalation comes despite a 45-day ceasefire extension agreed earlier this month between Israel and Lebanon. However, clashes have continued along the border, with both sides accusing each other of violating the truce.

Lebanese officials say more than 400 people have been killed in Israeli attacks since the ceasefire began, while over one million residents have been displaced by the fighting.
