Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has directed political parties to focus on issue-based campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Addressing political stakeholders in Kano on Wednesday, the Governor warned against hate speech, character assassination, and property destruction during political rallies.

Consequently, Governor Yusuf urged party leaders to discipline their members. He asked them to prevent activities that could compromise the state’s peaceful environment.

Therefore, political parties must prioritize policy debates over personal attacks. Adopting issue-based campaigns will foster democratic growth and protect public infrastructure across the state.

State Governor Demands Responsible Media Coverage and Security Neutrality

Speaking on public communication, Governor Yusuf urged media practitioners, social media influencers, and bloggers to verify reports before publishing.

Furthermore, he stressed that journalists must avoid circulating unverified rumors, inflammatory posts, and fake news capable of inciting public disorder.

“Our supporters must remain disciplined, respect opposing views, and refuse to be provoked into actions that undermine public order,” Governor Yusuf stated.

In addition, the Governor called on security agencies to maintain absolute professionalism, impartiality, and vigilance throughout the political season.

He noted that law enforcement officers must protect all citizens equally without political bias.

Good Governance and Continued Infrastructure Delivery

Highlighting administrative goals, Governor Yusuf assured residents that election activities will not derail public service delivery and state development.

Therefore, his administration will continue completing infrastructural projects and serving all citizens regardless of political affiliations.

“The government’s commitment to good governance and rapid development remains firm under our leadership,” the Governor added.

Moreover, the state government plans to expand urban renewal projects and support local business communities during the political season.

Finally, Governor Yusuf called on civil society groups to promote issue-based campaigns and cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies to maintain safety.
