Manchester United are now just two points away from sealing a place in next season’s Champions League.
Manchester United beat Brentford after first-half goals from Casemiro and Benjamin Sesko.
Casemiro opened the scoring after 11 minutes, heading in from close range after Harry Maguire flicked the ball across goal. Bruno Fernandes then provided his 19th assist of the season for Sesko to double the lead before halftime.
Brentford created several chances but failed to convert. Mathias Jensen scored late to give the visitors hope, but United held on for all three points.
The win leaves United needing only two more points from their final four matches to confirm a Champions League return.
It was also a major setback for Brentford, whose hopes of qualifying for Europe suffered another blow.
