Tamunosoye Karibi-George is representing Nigeria at the 73rd Miss World Festival in Vietnam. The 26-year-old beauty queen is from Port Harcourt, Rivers State. She represented Bayelsa State during the national contest. Karibi-George won the Miss World Nigeria 2026 crown after beating 19 other finalists in Lagos. She was crowned at the Balmoral Hall of the Federal Palace Hotel.
However, her journey is about more than beauty and pageantry. Karibi-George founded Beyond Labels, an initiative for children with special needs. The project promotes inclusion, dignity and equal opportunities for children with disabilities. She wants people to focus on their abilities, not their limitations. Her advocacy also fits the Miss World Beauty With a Purpose programme.
Before leaving Nigeria, Karibi-George shared an emotional message with her followers. She said,
“With purpose in my heart, I depart Nigeria to represent our great nation at the 73rd Miss World Festival in Vietnam.”
She also made her mission clear, saying,
“Vietnam is calling, and Nigeria is coming.”
For her, the global stage is a chance to promote Nigerian culture and champion inclusion.
Interestingly, this is not her first international pageant experience. Karibi-George won Miss Africa International in Accra, Ghana, in 2024. She studied Communications at Madonna University, Okija. She is also an associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations. Now, she hopes to improve Nigeria’s recent Miss World performance. Joy Mojisola Raimi reached the Top 20 at the previous competition.
Many Nigerians will be watching to see how far Karibi-George can go.
