Pakistan condemns UAE attacks, urges Iran ceasefire respect

Mediator warns fresh strikes risk derailing fragile peace efforts in the Gulf.

Shehbaz Sharif has condemned reported missile and drone attacks on the United Arab Emirates, calling for the ceasefire with Iran to be respected. He said the strikes on civilian infrastructure threaten ongoing diplomatic efforts and must not continue.

Pakistan, acting as a mediator between the US and Iran, said maintaining the ceasefire is critical to allow dialogue and prevent further escalation. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari added that both sides should avoid actions that could worsen tensions, noting that recent attacks are complicating negotiations.

Meanwhile, the League of Arab States warned that the situation is putting a fragile truce at risk, especially as concerns grow over the safety of shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz.

The latest developments come amid reports of Iranian strikes on UAE targets, raising fears of a broader regional escalation.

With tensions rising again, diplomatic progress now hangs in the balance.
