Putin says Russia-China ties have reached unprecedented level

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping pledged deeper cooperation during high-level talks in Moscow.

Vladimir Putin said ties between Russia and China have reached an “unprecedentedly high level” as he met with Chinese President Xi Jinping for strategic talks focused on global security, energy and international cooperation.

During the meeting, Putin described China as a reliable partner and said the growing relationship between Moscow and Beijing was helping global stability. Xi, meanwhile, criticised what he called “unilateral hegemony” in world affairs and urged stronger cooperation between the two countries.

The two leaders are expected to oversee the signing of 21 agreements, including joint declarations on expanding strategic partnership and promoting a “multipolar world order.” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is also holding talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

The summit comes amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East and growing geopolitical rivalry between global powers, with both Russia and China positioning themselves as key partners on the world stage.
