Nollywood stars Rachael Okonkwo and Eucharia Anunobi have joined Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah’s team. The governor appointed both actresses as political aides alongside 99 other appointees.
The announcement came on Monday, September 21, 2026. Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, disclosed the appointments. Overall, Mbah appointed 101 aides across three categories. The list includes seven Special Advisers, six Senior Special Assistants and 88 Special Assistants.
Rachael Okonkwo, popularly called Nkoli Nwa Nsukka, will serve as Senior Special Assistant on Film and Creative Industry Development. The actress hails from Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State. She became popular through the Nkoli Nwa Nsukka film series. Okonkwo started her Nollywood career in the mid-2000s. Her new role will focus on the state’s film and creative sector.
Meanwhile, veteran actress Eucharia Anunobi will serve as Special Assistant on Women Mobilisation for Enugu-North Zone. Anunobi became a household name in Nollywood during the 1990s. She has featured in more than 90 films. Beyond acting, she later became an evangelist. Her new appointment places her in a role focused on women mobilisation across Enugu-North.
Other notable appointees include Barr. Okey Ude and Hon. Chinedu Chukwunwike. Barr. Peter Chukwujekwu Ogbe, Chukwudi Ozoeluba and Frank Udemezue also received Senior Special Assistant roles. The Special Advisers include Chief S.N.C. Nwagu, Dr Fidelis Odo and Augustine Okoli.
Other appointees include Pedro Nwankwo, Chimezie Nkwuo, Chief Vitalis Okonkwo and Peter Andy Omeje. Their portfolios cover areas such as conflict resolution, policy, economic development and commerce. The appointments also span health, environmental protection, youth engagement and grassroots mobilisation.
