Celebrations turned violent after Arsenal’s title parade, leaving six people injured in separate stabbing incidents.
Six people were stabbed and 24 others arrested following Arsenal’s Premier League victory celebrations in north London, according to the Metropolitan Police. One man in his 20s suffered life-threatening injuries after an attack on Hornsey Road, although police say his condition has since stabilised.
Hundreds of thousands of supporters attended the five-mile parade celebrating Arsenal’s league triumph. Police said most of the stabbings occurred later in the evening after the main crowds had dispersed.
More than 500 officers were deployed for the event. The arrests included suspects linked to assaults on police officers, sexual offences and grievous bodily harm. Two officers were also injured during the celebrations, while several police vehicles were damaged.
Police have increased stop-and-search powers as investigations continue into the violence that followed the Arsenal victory parade.
