Reports state that a police inspector attached to the Sokoto State Police Command has died after collapsing shortly after taking part in the command’s weekly fitness exercise.
The deceased, Inspector Adamu Isah, was attached to the command’s Department of Operations.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, Isah collapsed after returning from the weekly Walkathon exercise at the command headquarters on Wednesday. He was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment. However, doctors later confirmed that he had died.
The incident has left the Sokoto State Police Command mourning the sudden loss of one of its officers.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Hayatu Hassan Shaffa, expressed sadness over Isah’s death. He also said Isah was an active sportsman who represented the command in volleyball and boxing.
“The Sokoto State Police Command is deeply saddened by the sudden and painful loss of our colleague, Inspector Adamu Isah,” the commissioner said.
He extended his condolences to Isah’s family, friends and colleagues, while assuring the family that the command would provide necessary support. The commissioner also urged officers and personnel to remain steadfast and draw strength from Isah’s life of service. He prayed for the peaceful repose of the inspector’s soul and asked God to strengthen his family.
