Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has died at 66. The actor passed away on Sunday, August 23, after battling stage-four cancer.
His death came days after his daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, raised concerns about his health. They made emotional appeals to hospitals, cancer specialists and well-wishers. The family wanted urgent medical help for the veteran actor. Kira had earlier revealed that doctors could no longer continue his chemotherapy.
However, a medical expert later explained that stopping chemotherapy does not always mean a patient is abandoned. Dr Olusina Ajidahun said advanced cancer patients may move to palliative care. This can happen when available disease-focused treatments are no longer suitable.
Ogogo’s death was confirmed on Sunday, leaving fans and colleagues mourning across Nigeria. His daughter, Kira, also confirmed the heartbreaking news during an emotional live video. The actor spent over four decades in the Nigerian film industry. He became one of the most recognised faces in Yoruba Nollywood.
