Authorities say the suspected gunman is dead after a shooting that left multiple victims in Midland, Texas.
At least one person was killed and 10 others were wounded in a shooting incident in Midland, Texas, on Friday, according to local officials.
Police responded to reports of gunfire shortly after 8:00 a.m. local time and initially entered a standoff with the suspect. Authorities later confirmed that the active shooter incident had been resolved and that the suspected gunman was deceased.
Officials said there are 11 known victims, including the person who died. Midland Memorial Hospital received nine victims, with four undergoing surgery. Another injured person was taken to a separate medical facility in nearby Odessa.
Midland Mayor Lori Blong described the incident as heartbreaking and expressed support for the victims, their families and emergency responders. Police have not yet released details about the suspect or the motive behind the attack.
Authorities said no law enforcement officers were reported injured during the response.
Investigators are continuing to gather information as the Midland community mourns the victims of the deadly Texas shooting.
