Dino Melaye, former senator representing Kogi West, says President Bola Tinubu is not interested in conducting elections, alleging that his administration is pushing Nigeria towards a one-party system.
Speaking in an interview on Mic on Mic Podcast, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain said he operated in a “satanic milieu” during his time with Tinubu’s political camp.
“Tinubu is not interested in election. He doesn’t want election and that is why he wants a one-party system,” Melaye said.
“My brother, I was operating in a satanic milieu when I was with Tinubu. I was operating in a dangerous environment. I had to leave.”
Melaye also criticised the current state of democracy in the country, alleging that governance has been captured by a narrow group of interests.
He added that despite the challenges, the ADC remains confident of victory in the 2027 elections.
“In 2027, there will be election… ADC will be in the villa,” he said.
The former lawmaker also dismissed concerns over the absence of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the party’s convention, insisting that the electoral body acted in breach of the law by failing to attend.
Melaye further took a swipe at Nyesom Wike, accusing the minister of working against opposition parties in the country.
