Tinubu jets out of Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja on Saturday for a 14-day visit to France, Kenya and Rwanda, the presidency said in a statement on Friday.

In the statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to the president on information and strategy, Tinubu is scheduled to visit France first before proceeding to Nairobi, Kenya.

The president will attend the Africa-France summit in Nairobi from May 11 to May 12.

Co-chaired by Emmanuel Macron, president of France, and William Ruto, president of Kenya, the summit will focus on energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, and climate action.

The Onanuga said Tinubu’s participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with African countries and France.

The summit, themed “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth”, will bring together African leaders and their French counterparts to discuss economic transformation, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and technological advancement.

CEO FORUM SUMMIT

After the Kenya summit, Tinubu will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, for the Africa CEO Forum scheduled for May 14 and May 15.

The forum, themed “Scale or Fail”, will convene private sector leaders, investors and policymakers to discuss strategies for accelerating economic growth through regional integration and cross-border investment.

According to the presidency, the event, held in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), will host over 2,000 business leaders and government officials.

Tinubu is expected to deliver statements at both summits, highlighting his administration’s economic reforms and investment agenda.

He will also hold meetings with African and global business leaders.

The president will be accompanied by some ministers and senior aides and is expected to return to Nigeria after the Rwanda summit.
