Actress Toyin Abraham has distanced herself from the Lagos State APC Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 elections. The actress said she did not join any campaign council. She also asked the public to ignore reports linking her to the team.
“I’m not a member of any campaign council,” Abraham wrote on her Instagram Story.
“I am staying out of politics.”

Her reaction came after the Lagos APC unveiled its campaign council on Thursday. The published list included her under the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate.
Abraham appeared alongside several popular entertainers on the list. They include Jide Kosoko, Eniola Badmus, Bimbo Akintola and Adebayo Salami. Saheed Balogun and Bukky Wright also appeared on the list. Fuji stars Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Obesere and Adewale Ayuba were also named.
Meanwhile, Toke Benson-Awoyinka heads the directorate as Director. Kosoko serves as Co-Director, while Badmus is Deputy Director. Despite Abraham’s rejection, her name remains on the published 33-member directorate.
How the whole controversy started and lingered
Her latest statement comes after years of controversy over her political involvement. Abraham publicly supported Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election. That decision sparked heavy criticism from some social media users.
In March 2023, she discussed the backlash during a Twitter Space. She said some Peter Obi supporters petitioned Netflix over her films. Abraham also said some people targeted brands linked to her. She shared messages asking Checkers Custard to end her ambassadorial deal.
The controversy returned in 2024 after Abraham reported an X user over alleged defamatory posts. The user, identified as Big Ayo, accused her of using money linked to Tinubu for her husband’s hair transplant. Abraham denied the claim and petitioned cybercrime authorities.
She later clarified that she did not cause the arrest of the man’s mother. Big Ayo was eventually released from police custody. The incident sparked another online backlash against the actress. During an emotional Instagram Live in July 2024, Abraham said, “I want to die.” She also spoke about attacks involving her child.
Now, her decision to stay away from politics marks a clear shift from her previous public involvement.
