A US service member has died as fighting between the United States and Iran continues to intensify across the Middle East.
The US military has confirmed that one American soldier was killed and another injured in northern Iraq after an Iranian drone attack. According to US CENTCOM, the casualty occurred during the controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian attack drone.
The announcement came a day after an Iranian strike on a US military base in Jordan killed two American soldiers and left another missing. Centcom also said unidentified human remains had been recovered at the Jordan attack site and are undergoing identification.
US-Iran Conflict Enters Eighth Day
The latest casualty comes as the United States and Iran exchanged fresh strikes for an eighth consecutive day. The US said its latest operations targeted Iranian military assets threatening commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. However, Iran continued attacks on US allies, including Jordan and Kuwait.
Iranian media also reported fresh US strikes on military-linked sites, including an under-construction nuclear facility in Darkhoveyn. Meanwhile, Jordan said it intercepted several Iranian missiles and condemned the attacks on its territory.
The attack marks another escalation in the growing regional conflict, as diplomatic efforts to restore a ceasefire remain stalled.
