Vivienne Jolie Drops ‘Pitt’ From Name in Latest Legal Move

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s daughter, Vivienne, is taking another step to remove “Pitt” from her surname. The 18-year-old has published a legal notice about her planned name change.

According to Los Angeles County Superior Court documents, Vivienne wants to change her name from “Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt” to “Vivienne Marcheline Jolie.” She listed “personal” as the reason for the request. The legal notice appeared in the Los Angeles Daily Journal on July 24, July 31, August 7 and August 14.

However, the name change is not official yet. Vivienne filed her petition on July 21. Her court hearing is scheduled for November 2. Anyone who objects must submit a written objection before the hearing. They must also attend the hearing in person.

Meanwhile, this is not Vivienne’s first public move away from the Pitt surname. In May 2024, she appeared as “Vivienne Jolie” in the Playbill for Broadway’s The Outsiders. She worked on the production as an assistant to her mother, Angelina Jolie. Her siblings Zahara and Maddox have also started similar legal processes. Zahara’s hearing comes up on September 28, while Maddox’s is set for September 14.

Vivienne’s move follows similar decisions by her sisters. Shiloh legally changed her name from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Jolie in August 2024. She filed the request on her 18th birthday. Zahara also used “Zahara Marley Jolie” during her Spelman College graduation ceremony in May 2026.

The family’s name changes have attracted attention amid the long-running tension between Pitt and Jolie.
