WHO confirms first Ebola recovery in DR Congo outbreak

The World Health Organization says the first confirmed Ebola patient has recovered in the ongoing outbreak in DR Congo.

The World Health Organization has announced the first confirmed recovery from the current Ebola outbreak in Democratic Republic of the Congo.

WHO technical officer on viral haemorrhagic fevers, Legand, said the recovery offers hope as health officials continue efforts to contain the virus.

She stressed that early access to medical care can significantly improve survival chances for infected patients.

“We are expecting more people to recover,” Legand said.

Health authorities and international aid groups are continuing surveillance, treatment, and emergency response operations as they work to prevent further spread of the deadly disease.

The latest development comes amid growing global concern over the Ebola outbreak in DR Congo and neighbouring regions.
