Wizkid Reveals He Spent Up to $400 Daily on Nigerian Food in the US

Wizkid reveals he spent up to $400 daily on Nigerian food while living in the US for two years because he missed his favorite local meals.

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Wizkid has shared why living in the United States was not as exciting as many people would expect. The Grammy-winning singer said food became his biggest challenge. Although he enjoyed success abroad, he could not stay away from his favorite Nigerian meals. As a result, he spent hundreds of dollars every day just to enjoy local dishes.

Speaking during a recent interview, Wizkid revealed that he lived in the US for two years. However, he said he became bored because Nigerian food was not always easy to get. The singer explained that he spent between $300 and $400 daily just to satisfy his cravings. He said,

“I only eat Nigerian food everywhere I go. I got bored staying in the USA for 2 years because I wasn’t getting Nigerian food as much as I wanted. I used to spend $300 to $400 every single day for 2 years in the US just to have a taste of Nigerian food.”

Even with his global fame and luxury lifestyle, Wizkid insisted that he remains deeply connected to his roots. According to him, expensive designer brands do not change who he is. Instead, he still enjoys the simple things that remind him of home. His comments have also sparked conversations online, with many fans saying they understand his love for Nigerian food.

The singer ended his story with a statement that many fans found relatable. He said,

“I’m a local boy o. Forget all this Louis Vuitton Gucci stuff. I love what I love, you know. You can take the boy out of the ghetto but you cannot take the ghetto out of the boy.”

Unsurprisingly, the interview has gone viral, as many Nigerians praised Wizkid for proudly embracing his culture despite his international success.
